Who we are

Nick Wright
Designer

Nick is a traditionally trained graphic designer. That means he’s equally comfortable driving an old-school pencil, as he is a digital tablet. Nick has more than 25 years’ experience, starting in newspaper retail advertising, where he honed both his design and illustration skills. During a stint in the UK, Nick worked for top 10 international design consultancies, and was involved with projects for Volkswagen Audi and Eurostar, amongst others. In 1999, he made the decision to return to his hometown of Dunedin and establish a design studio.

Becky Campbell
Marketer

Becky’s strength is in brand development and management, particularly in the agricultural and food sectors. Most recently, she was a key member of the marketing team with leading New Zealand export company Silver Fern Farms. Becky was directly involved in company’s re-brand (from PPCS) and the subsequent roll out to a diverse audience of stakeholders – international and domestic consumers and customers, 16,000 farmer shareholders and 7000 employees.

Brigid Feely
Copywriter

Brigid was communications manager at the University of Otago and editor of leading New Zealand agricultural magazine Country-Wide, before consciously choosing to move out of management and PR to concentrate on what she does best – writing. While a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree is not the standard degree of writers, it is this science base that excites many of Brigid’s clients. She is someone who “gets” complex information and has the skill, experience and care to make sure the reader gets it too.

How we work

Workshop D is home to three independent, established professionals, who recognise that the best work comes when the creative team works together as early as possible in process – ideally from concept development.

However, our independence means that,
if you only need marketing advice, then
you simply talk to Becky. But, if you need

design and copywriting as well, then
Becky happens to know just the right creatives for the job...

And if you need the whole shooting match
– a marketing plan, collateral, a website,
roll out – we can account manage your job from start to finish.

Nick especially enjoys getting involved in a project at concept stage and following it through to roll out and maturity. At a technical level, he is particularly experienced at transforming complicated information in to easily understood infographics and considers himself a dab hand with vector graphics and traditional photo manipulation.

Becky was also heavily involved in the development, marketing and launch of the Silver Fern Farms retail range into New Zealand supermarkets. She is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative market research, as well as event management, including international trade events. Becky’s marketing plans take an “all company” approach - that is, they are developed with the bigger picture in mind, integrating with existing stakeholder activity and mindful of opportunities that truly reflect a company’s brand.

But communicating clearly isn’t enough. Copy must also be succinct and a delight to read. (You’re not going to get your message across, if the copy is a chore to read.) Brigid has been working on her own account since 2009 and her client base includes the University of Otago, Zeagold Foods, Tourism Central Otago and New Zealand’s Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium.
